How do I manage who has administrator access to the LMS?

LMS management access can be configured from the Configuration section of Sesame itself. You can grant two types of access: Edit (full control over courses, materials, and enrolments) or Read (view only, with visibility limited to the employees assigned to you).

Before you start

  • Only people with Edit access can enter Configuration and manage other people's access.

  • There are two access origins: Sesame (the person has the "LMS management" permission enabled in their role, within the Sesame roles panel) and LMS (an Administrator has assigned it to them directly from this panel). This allows you to have LMS managers without needing to touch employee management, which remains linked to Sesame roles. Access of Sesame origin cannot be edited or deleted from the LMS.

  • Owner, Administrator, and HR Administrator have Edit access by default.

Steps to follow

  1. Go to LMS >> Configuration >> Access.
  2. View the list of people with Edit or Read access, their origin (Sesame or LMS), and, if they have Read access, how many supervised employees they have assigned.
  3. Click "Add access", search for the person by name or email, and choose the type: Edit or Read.
  4. If you choose Read, review the list of supervised employees that is pre-loaded automatically from Sesame (if the person has subordinates). Add or remove employees using the search bar in the panel itself.
  5. Save the changes.

⚠️ If you assign or change access directly from the LMS, the change takes effect immediately. If you do so from the Sesame roles panel (by enabling "LMS management"), it takes effect at the affected person's next login.

💡 If you delete your own LMS-origin access, you'll see a confirmation warning before the action is executed. Sesame-origin access, including your own, if applicable, cannot be deleted from here; it is managed from the Sesame roles configuration.
