How does the Night shifts configuration work?
Sesame HR includes a new setting called Night shifts, available in Advanced configuration. This feature lets you define how clock ins/outs that cross midnight are counted, so that night shifts, even those that include breaks during the working day, are consolidated correctly according to your company's needs.
Who does this setting apply to?
This setting is aimed at employees with flexible schedules who work shifts that extend past midnight and take breaks during that period.
For example, if an employee clocks in at 22:00, takes a break, and resumes their shift at 02:00, the system will no longer interpret that new clock in as the start of a separate working day.
Employees with fixed shifts are not affected. Their behaviour remains the same.
How is it enabled?
This setting is disabled by default and does not affect your account's behaviour until you decide to enable it.
To do so:
- Go to Advanced configuration.
- Access the Night shifts option.
- Select the behaviour that best fits your company's operations:
- Count the entire working day on the clock-in date.
- Count the working day on the clock-in date based on a configured time margin.
- Split the hours between the days involved.
Once the setting is enabled, clock ins/outs will be counted according to the option selected.
Important: this setting only applies to clock ins/outs made in real time. Manual edits to clock ins/outs are not affected.
