Recommended devices for using Face ID
Sesame’s facial recognition system (Face ID) works on Android and iOS devices that meet certain minimum technical requirements.
As there are many models and brands on the market, we cannot guarantee proper operation on all devices. For this reason, it’s important to test performance on the devices where it will be used before rolling it out broadly across your company.
Minimum requirements
For basic operation, make sure the device has:
- Operating system: Android 8.0 or later / iOS 13 or later.
- Front camera: minimum 5 MP.
- RAM: minimum 2 GB.
- Internet connection: active and stable (WiFi or mobile data).
- Access enabled: camera and location access for the Sesame app.
- App version: updated from Google Play or the App Store.
Recommendations for optimal performance
For the best user experience, we recommend devices with:
- Front camera: 8 MP or higher.
- RAM: 3 GB or more.
- Recent processor: Snapdragon 700+, Tensor G, or Apple A12 or later.
- Good lighting: avoid dark environments or strong backlighting.
- Clean system: avoid rooted devices (Android) or jailbroken devices (iOS).
- No background apps: close other apps that use the camera.
- Stable connection: avoid unstable networks or areas with no signal, as Face ID requires an active connection to validate records.
Although the Sesame app can be installed on other devices, Face ID performance is only guaranteed on devices that meet the recommended specifications.
We recommend testing Face ID on your team’s devices before adopting it as a regular time-tracking method, as external factors such as connection quality, mobile coverage, or network interference may also affect proper operation.
