How can I import positions from an Excel file?
If your company has a lot of positions, you can create them all at once with the importer: download an Excel template, fill it in and upload it to Sesame. This lets you create positions, levels, salary ranges and assigned people in one go.
- Go to Company positions >> Positions.
- Click Import, at the top right, next to the Create button.
- In the Import positions from Excel window, click Download template.
- Open the template and fill in the Positions sheet: one row for each level of each position.
- Go back to the window and upload the file: drag it into the box or click it to upload it. Supported formats: .xlsx and .xls.
- Click Import.
What goes in each column of the template?
- Company position (required): the name of the position. Repeat it in the row for each of its levels.
- Level (required): the name of the level within the position.
- Reports to (optional): the level it reports to, written as "Position - Level". It must exist in the file itself or in Sesame.
- Minimum salary range and Maximum salary range (optional): either fill in both columns or leave both empty.
- Assigned emails (optional): the email addresses of the people you want to assign to that level, separated by commas.
⚠️ The template only creates new positions: if the name of any position matches an existing one, the import is cancelled and no changes are made. The example row is discarded on import, so there's no need to delete it.
