How do I create levels for a position, and what is the salary range?

Each position can be organised into different levels, such as L1, L2, or LEAD. Each level has its own description, salary range, and reporting line, allowing you to define how a role evolves within your organisation.

Create a level

  1. Go to Job positions and create a new position, or open an existing one from the three dots >> Edit position.
  2. In the "Levels" section, click Add level.
  3. Enter the level name — for example, L1, L2, or LEAD — and add its description. You can also use Sesame AI to generate the description.
  4. Go to that level and define the salary range by entering the minimum and maximum salary, and set the reporting line for the level.
  5. Repeat the process to add all the levels the position needs.

What is the salary range?

The salary range sets the minimum and maximum salary associated with each level, expressed in the same format as the salary already configured in the company (typically gross annual), so that the comparison is consistent. By defining it, you can compare each person's salary against the corresponding range from the People tab and identify potential salary misalignments without leaving Sesame.
