This means that if an employee works an extra hour one day and an hour less the next day, the system will automatically balance their working hours without any further action required.
However, if you want to have more detailed control over the extra hours worked by employees, we recommend using the Overtime Balance tool.
Follow this path to view the balance of hours for each person working in the company:
Clock-ins >> Overtime Balance
Once there, by selecting Compensate, you can choose how and for how long you want to compensate an employee’s overtime balance, either with time off or with a payment.
If the hours are compensated with time off, a leave request will be created that the employee can apply for. If the hours are compensated with a financial remuneration, they will be marked in the employee's history as having been included in the payroll for the specified month.
Please note that, before compensating their hours, employees must validate their clock ins/outs. If they haven’t done it before, a validation email will be sent then. Once validated, clock ins/outs will be blocked so that neither the admin nor the employee can edit them, and therefore affect the overtime balance.
It’s important to mention that it will always be the administrator who decides how many hours of the employee’s overtime balance will be paid.
