How can I complete the regulatory and tax information required to open my Wallet account?

To open your Wallet account, we’ll ask for some information required by financial regulations: your organization’s regulatory classification and, for each real owner, their gender and whether they’re a U.S. person. Here’s what each one means and how to fill it in.

Regulatory classification (Step 2: organization)

This field is mandatory for all types of organization. You have three options:

  • Active non-financial company. This is the right option for most organizations: those that earn their income by selling products or providing services.
  • Passive non-financial company. If most of your income comes from passive sources, such as dividends, interest, or rent.
  • Financial institution. If your organization is a bank, an insurance company, an investment fund, or another entity whose business is financial activity.

💡 If you’re not sure which one to choose, check with your accountant or whoever handles your organization’s bookkeeping.

Details for each real owner (Step 3: owners)

If your organization is a company, an association, or a charity, we’ll ask for the following details for each owner:

  • Gender. Mandatory for all owners.
  • Nationality. Mandatory for anyone who is a Legal Representative. Enter their nationality, not their country of birth.
  • Are they a U.S. person? (FATCA). You must answer Yes or No; no option is selected by default. This declaration is required by U.S. tax regulations. A U.S. person is, for example, someone with U.S. citizenship or U.S. tax residency.
  • U.S. tax identification number. This only appears if you answered Yes to the previous question. It can be up to 20 characters long.

⚠️ In addition, at least one of the owners must be marked as a Legal Representative. Otherwise, you won’t be able to request verification.

What happens if any information is incorrect?

When you click Request verification, if any information is missing or our payment provider (Swan) rejects it, you’ll be taken straight to the field in question and shown the reason. Just correct it and click Request verification again.
