Can I configure Overtime Balance multiplier rules by hour units?

Yes, absolutely! In Sesame HR you can create Overtime Balance multiplier rules either by hour units or by time slots. Below, we explain what each option means.

What does it mean to configure multiplier rules by hour units?

This option allows the different multipliers of the same rule to apply to the first hour, the second hour, the third hour, and so on, of the overtime worked, regardless of when during the day it happens.

Remember that the other configuration is by time slots, in which case the application of the rules is tied to specific periods (for example, from 11:00 to 13:00, or from 22:00 to 23:00).

Step by step: How to configure multiplier rules by hour units

Using this new option is very simple. It’s integrated into the usual flow for creating or editing multiplier rules in the overtime balance:

  1. Access the Overtime balance configuration
  • Go to Configuration >> Schedules >> Overtime balance.
  • You can add a new rule or edit an existing one.
  • To create a new rule, click on +Add.

  1. Complete all the elements of the overtime balance
  • Move forward until the fourth screen, the Multipliers step.
  • Select By hour units.
  • Set up and add all the conditions you need.
Now you can define the value of the hours that will be added to the balance for each hour unit worked (example: first hour, second hour, etc.).
  • For example, you can set the first hour worked to be multiplied by 1.5, and the second hour by 2.0.

  1. Save the changes
  • Make sure to save the configuration so the new rule is applied correctly.
  • Click on Finish.

  1. Assign the rule to employees
  • Once created, the rule will appear in the configuration menu.
  • In the Employees column, you’ll see the number of employees assigned to that rule.
  • Click on that number to assign it to other employees.
