What are multiplier rules and how do I create them?
Multiplier rules let you assign a higher value to time worked in specific time slots or situations (public holidays, weekends, etc.). That time generates a separate balance from the general overtime, which you can then compensate with time off or pay.

How to create a multiplier rule step by step
Go to Configuration >> Time management >> Multiplier rules and click "+Add".
1. Name and activation
Give the rule a unique name so you can identify it easily, and define when it should apply by choosing one of these 3 options:
- Days of the week: select the days you want and specify whether the rule applies when the employee has an assigned shift or schedule, when they do not, or in both cases.
- Specific public holidays: choose a calendar and select the specific public holidays that trigger the rule (for example, Black Friday or 24 December). You can add dates from up to 5 different years.
-
All public holidays: the rule will apply automatically on any public holiday assigned to the employee in their calendar (no need to set dates manually).
If you choose "All public holidays" or "Specific public holidays", in the next step the system will automatically select the "Whenever the employee works" option, as public holidays are not combined with regular schedule slots.
2. Applicable working time
Select which hours worked the multiplier will act on:
- According to assigned schedule or shift: applies only to time within the planned schedule/shift or only to time outside it.
- According to theoretical working day: applies to time up to completing the working day, to extra time beyond the working day, or to accumulated overtime (calculated at the close of the daily, weekly, or monthly period).
- According to all time worked: applies whenever the employee works, regardless of schedule or working day.
3. Time slots, brackets, and multiplier value
Define how time worked is measured and rewarded:
- Period type: choose whether to apply the multiplier by Time slot (for example, from 10:00 to 16:00) or by Hour bracket (for example, from the 1st and 2nd extra hour onwards). You can include up to 5 slots or brackets per rule, and if a slot crosses midnight, you will see the +1d indicator to show that it ends the following day.
-
Compensation method:
- Accumulate in balance: sends the accumulated time to time off, pay, or both, applying a multiplier (for example, x1.75) or a percentage (from 1% to 1000%).
- Differentiate multipliers: lets you assign different values for time off and pay within the same slot.
When you finish the configuration, click "Save". The rule will be created and ready to be assigned.
Before configuring the balance destination (time off or pay), make sure you have the corresponding policies created in the system. If you only have time-off policies, you will not be able to send balance to pay in your multiplier rules.
