How does configuring grace period minutes affect the calculation of tardiness?

Grace period minutes allow you to set a time margin at the beginning of the workday to give employees flexibility, so that every minute of delay does not count as tardiness.

In Configuration >> Automations >> Notifications >> Grace period minutes, you can choose whether or not those minutes should affect the calculation of tardiness in Sesame.

  1. Enable the "Grace period in minutes" switch and set the desired number of minutes (e.g.,10 minutes).
  2. Enable or disable the option "Consider tardiness only after grace period minutes have passed" to determine whether the grace period should be included in the tardiness calculation.
  3. Save your changes.

For example, if the workday starts at 9:00 a.m. and a 5-minute grace period is configured, a clock in at 9:04 a.m. will not be considered tardy. However, a clock in at 9:06 a.m. will count as tardiness, since it exceeds the allowed grace period.

Once you enable this option:

  • Tardiness will be automatically calculated in payroll based on whether or not the grace period is applied.
  • Even if you change the configuration later, calculations in past payrolls will remain unchanged, ensuring full traceability.
