How does configuring grace period minutes affect the calculation of tardiness?
Grace period minutes allow you to set a time margin at the beginning of the workday to give employees flexibility, so that every minute of delay does not count as tardiness.
In Configuration >> Automations >> Notifications >> Grace period minutes, you can choose whether or not those minutes should affect the calculation of tardiness in Sesame.
- Enable the "Grace period in minutes" switch and set the desired number of minutes (e.g.,10 minutes).
- Enable or disable the option "Consider tardiness only after grace period minutes have passed" to determine whether the grace period should be included in the tardiness calculation.
- Save your changes.
For example, if the workday starts at 9:00 a.m. and a 5-minute grace period is configured, a clock in at 9:04 a.m. will not be considered tardy. However, a clock in at 9:06 a.m. will count as tardiness, since it exceeds the allowed grace period.
Once you enable this option:
- Tardiness will be automatically calculated in payroll based on whether or not the grace period is applied.
- Even if you change the configuration later, calculations in past payrolls will remain unchanged, ensuring full traceability.
