How is a question average calculated?

In the Company results section, every figure you see follows a specific calculation logic. This process has two steps:

Step 1 — Individual question average

For each evaluated employee and each question, the scores given by all their evaluators are added together and divided by the number of evaluators. The result is the "average score" for that person on that question.

Example: Tom was evaluated by 7 people on Question 1 (Leadership). He received the scores 4, 4, 3, 4, 5, 3, and 5.

Operation Result
Sum of scores (4 + 4 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 3 + 5) 28
Divide by number of evaluators (28 / 7) 4.00 out of 5

Step 2 — Overall question average

Once the individual average for each person has been calculated, the company-wide average for that question is obtained: the individual averages of all evaluated employees are added together and divided by the number of people.

Example with Question 1 (3 evaluated employees):

Evaluated employee Individual average on Q1
Tom 4.00
John 3.33
Mary 4.00
Operation Result
Sum of averages (4.00 + 3.33 + 4.00) 11.33
Divide by number of evaluated employees (11.33 / 3) 3.78 out of 5

The overall question average is the basis for all other calculations: group scores, total score, and overall evaluation average.
