How does a contract amendment affect time off?
An amendment allows certain contract conditions to be modified or extended quickly and securely. Although different fields can be modified, changes to the contract dates directly affect the calculation of holidays.
⚠️ Prerequisite: for time-off recalculation via amendments to work correctly, you must have the corresponding option enabled. You can enable it from Configuration >> Company >> Advanced configuration, by enabling "Allow contract amendments to recalculate employees' holidays".
What happens when dates are modified?
When you change the start or end date of a contract through an amendment, Sesame automatically recalculates the proportional holiday entitlement for the employee.
This may increase or reduce the available days, depending on the new contract duration.
Example of a holiday increase: an employee has a contract running from 1 July to 20 November. If you create an amendment extending the end date to 31 December, the working period becomes 6 full months, and the system assigns 11 holiday days proportionally.
⚠️ Important: to maintain data consistency, when you modify a field through an amendment, that field becomes locked in the original contract and can no longer be edited there. All other fields in the original contract will remain editable as normal.
