What are theoretical hours and overtime hours?
-
Theoretical hours are the hours an employee is required to complete within a given period of time. They are calculated based on the assigned schedule or contract (depending on your configuration), while also taking into account recorded time off, such as holidays.
For example, an employee with an 8-hour schedule from Monday to Friday must complete 40 theoretical hours per week.
-
Overtime hours are the hours an employee works once they have exceeded their total theoretical hours.
For example, an employee with a 40-hour weekly schedule who logs 46 hours worked will have 6 overtime hours credited.
You’ll find these concepts applied in the Clock ins/outs section. Once a schedule or contract has been linked to the employee, Sesame will automatically calculate the theoretical hours they must complete and display them in this part of the platform.
