What are coverage shifts?

From the shift view in the timetable, you can set coverage requirements by defining the minimum staffing needed for a shift on a specific day or range of days. This allows you to see at all times whether you have enough people assigned or whether you still need more to cover that shift.

How to create a coverage shift

Locate the timetable you want to manage and switch to the shift view. Click the + on a timetable cell and select "Add coverage". Then specify:

  • Date range (the period during which you want the coverage to apply).
  • Number of employees needed to cover that shift.
  • Roles: if the coverage requires a specific profile, indicate it here.

When you're done, click "Save". You will see a counter in the cell showing how many employees still need to be assigned to that shift.

Manually assigning employees to coverage

You can assign employees to a coverage requirement manually at any time. Bear in mind that if you have defined roles for the coverage, you can only assign employees who have that role.

If you prefer, you can ask the shift planner to complete the coverage you have defined. See this article to understand exactly how it works.

Editing and deleting coverage requirements

You can modify or delete coverage requirements at any time by accessing the relevant cell in the timetable.
