What are shift templates and how can I create them?

Shift templates are a great way to create predefined formats that help you streamline and speed up the scheduling process for your team.

In Sesame, there are two ways to create shift templates:

1. Create a new template from a specific schedule

If you're working on a schedule and need a new template just for that team:

  • Open the schedule where you want to create the shift.
  • Click "Assign", then "New template" (bottom right).
  • Enter the basic details for the template, such as the name, abbreviation, and define the working hours.
  • When you're done, click "Save".

That’s it! The template will be automatically linked to the specific schedule where you created it.

2. Create a new template from Configuration

If you prefer a general overview or want to assign a template to multiple schedules:

  • Go to Configuration > Schedules > Shifts in your Sesame dashboard.
  • From there, you can create a new shift template or edit an existing one.
  • While creating or editing, you'll see an option to select which schedule(s) the template should be linked to. Simply check the appropriate schedules from the list.

Remember: you can assign a shift template to one or multiple schedules, it’s up to you!
