What are shift templates and how can I create them?

Shift templates are a great way to have pre-set shift formats to speed up the distribution of working hours across your employees as much as possible.

In Sesame, there are two ways to create shift templates:

1. Create a new template from a specific schedule

If you're working on a timetable and need a new template just for that team:

  • Open the timetable where you want to create the shift.
  • Click Add >> Shift template >> New template (bottom right).
  • Add the basic information about the template, such as name and abbreviation, and set the schedule.
  • When you're done, click Save.

That's it! When you create the template, it will automatically be associated only with the timetable you created it from.

2. Create a new template from Configuration

If you prefer a global overview or want to assign a template to multiple timetables:

  • Go to Configuration >> Schedules >> Shifts in your Sesame panel.
  • From here, you can create a new shift template or edit an existing one.
  • When creating or editing, you'll see an option to select which timetable(s) you want to associate that specific template with. Simply tick the desired timetables in the list.

And remember: you can associate shift templates with one or multiple timetables. The choice is yours!
